First Impressions 2021

The prep for this hastily-planned, mid-COVID trip and the lengthy travel involved were beyond arduous, and it was sure a bummer to fly right past Edinburgh (see above) down south to London for a five hour layover before flying back north.  HOWEVER, this has the makings to be the BEST TRIP EVER!  I think this photo of sunshine above the clouds might make for a good illustration:

If you are able to zoom in to the photo below, and if you know Edinburgh really, really well. you can see not only Arthur's Seat and the Port of Leith, but also Holyrood Abbey, Holyrood Palace, Calton Hill, St. Mary's Cathedral, Duddingston Loch, etc.  I always love flying into Edinburgh because of all the landmarks you can make out as you fly in, even on a hazy day such as this one.
I don't have many pictures to post today, a day which was mostly travel - left my house yesterday at 3:00pm and arrived here at 8:00pm today (with a time change, of course, but still).  I just need to say that I had the most lovely conversation tonight with my hosts Toby and Salah and that Salah made a wonderful dish of Persian herb stew with rice and that Toby, unbeknownst to me, made plans to take me to a talk on Edgar Allan Poe at Lauriston Castle tomorrow (umm  .  .  .  YES PLEASE), and that I have a delightful room to say in.  I will post pictures of my room and our dinner and will end there for tonight, as it is now 1:00am Edinburgh time, and I want to be up and ready to roll tomorrow!

YUMMY!!!!
